Minimizing allergic reactions
House dust is the most common cause of allergic reactions in the form of sneezing, eye irritation, asthma, or similar. You can reduce these symptoms to a far more comfortable level with the right humidity at home.
Experiments have shown that the adhesion of moistened dust to smooth floors increases rapidly at around 40 percent relative humidity and above. The allergenic substances stick together, form clumps, and sink to the floor more quickly. But the risk of mold also rises at levels above 60 percent relative humidity. This means that the ideal humidity range necessary to minimize allergic reactions is between 40 and 60 percent relative humidity.
